We are a part of UiTs innovation support and we work closely with Norinnova. Together we offer councelling and resources to researchers who:
- Have ideas or results with possible usefulness
- Want to understand how commersialisation or other kinds of implementation works
- Wonder how they can combine innovation with research
"I dont' know if this qualifies as innovation. It is reseach"
Perfectly normal question. Many innovation journeys start off with a single discory, a data pattern, or a method without a clear "market idea". Together we explore how your research can solve real needs and what has to be developed in order for it to be useful in practice. Discuss your idea with us!
"I haven't worked with innovation before. Is this really relevant for me?"
You don't have to have a plan to start a company or have a finished project or service. We are here to support ideas that stem from research and experiences from your field of expertise, including the early stages, and also when innovation hasn't been the goal from the outset. Maybe you have discovered something with practical value, or maybe you see a challenge that your research can help to solve. In that case, InnoHub can be a place to explore this further.
“Can I publish and consider commersialisation at the same time”
Yes you can. But the sequence is important. We help you to assess when you should send in a DOFI, and how you can protect your rights before publication so that you don't loose out on any possibilities. This is especially important when it comes to patents.
“When should I contact you?”
Get in touch early. Preferably before you know if it is an innovation. We can controbute with reflections and assessments and involve Norinnova for a pre-screening. It is easier to find a way while all the options are on the table - and a chat is free of charge.
We can contribute before the DOFI
You have made an interesting find, but you are unsure if it has innovation potential. We can contribute with:
- Discussing potential areas of use
- Pre-screening with Norinnova
- Assessing the road towards a DOFI and further development
- Help to make a first sketch og your development plan

We can contribute after the DOFI
After the DOFI form has been sent in, and a commersialisation project has been established together with Norinnova, InnoHub can still be a valuable team player:
- We continue the flollow-up of the project together with you and Norinnova and see to it that you have access to relevant resources and support in the development of the project
- We offer counselling and problem-solving around the development of the project, team, and further validation
- Even if Norinnova has the main responsibility for the formal commersialisation project, InnoHub is a low-threshold point of contact that use can use to discuss progress, challenges, or new ideas
We can contribute when things have been quiet for a while
There can be many good reasons why an earlier project was not continued. But:
- Do you have new insights?
- Has the field or the market changed?
- Are you motivated to take it to the next step?
