The NIPNET conference will be held in Tromsø, Norway, on the 4th and 5th of June 2026. Tromsø is best reached by plane and has several daily flights; nevertheless, there are opportunities to travel alternatively to Tromsø if you have the time. Accommodation must be booked by the participants themselves.

Travelling to Tromsø

Tromsø can be reached by plane, car, or bus. The closest railway station is in Narvik, with a corresponding bus (Bus number 100). There are many daily flights from the Nordic countries; some flights are direct, but most have a stopover at Oslo Airport Gardermoen.

Hotels

There are many hotels in the city centre. We recommend that you book your accommodation well in advance, as Tromsø is a popular tourist destination.

Public transport in Tromsø

Tromsø has a good public transportation system with city buses. We recommend city buses from the airport to the city centre (cost NOK 48 or NOK 24 outside rush hours). The Svipper app can support you in planning your journey and purchasing tickets. There are also ticket machines available both at the public bus stop at the airport and in the city centre.

To get to the University, you can take the bus from the stops 'Killengrens gate', 'Smørtorget', or 'Fr. Langes gate F1'. The bus stops named 'UiT' or 'UNN' are the closest to the venue. If you would like to take a stroll through the campus area, jump off at 'UiT/Planetariet' and cross the street.
