In this talk professor Kate Maxwell will run through the basic structures of EC evaluations, the various roles involved, how the evaluation progresses, and how evaluators are expected to structure their reports. There will be a specific focus on how applications are allocated to evaluators, and what applicants can do to help (and hinder) the choice of evaluators.

Come with your experience, your curiosity, your tales of woe and of delight, and together we can see if we can lift some of the veil of mystery that surrounds an increasingly important part of our academic life.

About the speaker

Kate Maxwell is professor of music history at UMAK and has worked with EC funding evaluations since 2018 in the broad area of “Society” (SOC). Since 2021 she has been “Vice Chair”, which is a role that allocates evaluators to proposals, chooses rapporteurs, monitors and mentors evaluators and rapporteurs, quality checks the reports sent to applicants, and works directly with the Commission. She works mostly with MSCA and Erasmus+ evaluations.
