On November 11th, Students for Justice in Palestine invite you for a discussion and film screening of No Other Land (2024), directed by Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal, Yuval Abraham, and Rachel Szor.
The film shows the settler and army violence of Masafer Yatta, a cluster of 19 Palestinian villages in the south of the West Bank and the daily terror they are forced to endure.
“We wanted to tell the story of how this violence is part of and connected to the larger system of ethnic cleansing that is also driven by the policy of home demolitions and permit refusal.” - (https://supportmasaferyatta.com/about-masafer-yatta)
After the release of the documentary, Awdah Hathaleen, teacher and co-creator of the film was brutally murdered by an Israeli settler, who received a three day house arrest and was released to roam freely after, while the Israeli police arrested members of the victims family and held on to the victims body for 10 days, forcing the family to accept oppressive conditions for the funeral.
There have been reports about increased aggressions after the release of the film. Shortly after the release of the film, Hamdan Ballal, director of the film - was tortured at this home and detained after his assault.
We can not continue our complicity in this systematic violence. Discussion will be held after the film.
