Tromsø har lange tradisjoner for politisk aktivisme, som omfatter blant annet kamp for miljøsaker, likestilling eller menneskerettigheter. På neste møte i internasjonalt seminar kan du få vite hva som motiverer aktivister i Tromsø og hvilke utfordringer de møter.

Tromsø has a long tradition of political activism, encompassing causes such as environmental issues, equality, and human rights. At the next meeting of the International Seminar, you can learn about what motivates activists in Tromsø and the challenges they face.
NORSK:
Internasjonalt Seminar er et informasjons- og debattforum i Tromsø, som gjennom foredrag og paneldiskusjoner tar opp nord/sør-problematikk, miljø/klima, fattigdom/utvikling og krig/fred som sentrale tema.
Torsdag 9. kl. 19:00-21:00, på Tromsø bibliotek og byarkiv, holdes det et debattmøte i Internasjonalt Seminar.
I Tromsø finnes det mange initiativer og organisasjoner som jobber for klima, rettferdighet, likestilling og menneskerettigheter. Samtidig kan en stille seg spørsmålet: hvor mye aktivisme finnes det egentlig i byen? Hvem er det som engasjerer seg, og hva er drivkraften deres? Og bidrar sivilt engasjement faktisk til et bedre samfunn?
På dette seminaret ønsker vi å utforske både hvilken personlig motivasjon og hvilke kollektive erfaringer som ligger bak aktivisme og samfunnsengasjement. Vi inviterer aktivister som har deltatt i ulike kamper i Tromsø til å dele sine perspektiver på hvorfor de engasjerer seg, hvilke utfordringer de møter – og hvilken betydning aktivisme kan ha lokalt.

Som vanlig på internasjonalt seminar vil det mot slutten åpnes for spørsmål fra publikum.
Internasjonalt seminar har et program med 25-30 åpne møter i året.
Seminaret støttes av Tromsø kommune og koordineres av FN-sambandet Nord og Seksjon for internasjonalt samarbeid (SIS) ved UiT Norges arktiske universitet.
I tillegg støttes seminaret av Tromsøs humanitære organisasjoner, solidaritets- organisasjoner og studentorganisasjoner.

International Seminar is an information and debate forum in Tromsø, which, through lectures and panel discussions, addresses key topics such as North/South issues, environment/climate, poverty/development, and war/peace.
On Thursday, 9 October, from 19:00 to 21:00, at Tromsø Library and City Archives, a debate meeting in International Seminar will take place.
In Tromsø, there are many initiatives and organisations working for climate, justice, equality, and human rights. At the same time, one might ask: how much activism is there really in the city? Who is getting involved, and what drives them? And does civic engagement actually contribute to a better society?
In this seminar, we aim to explore both the personal motivations and the collective experiences behind activism and civic engagement. We invite activists who have participated in various struggles in Tromsø to share their perspectives on why they get involved, the challenges they face – and the significance activism can have locally.

International Seminar hosts a programme of 25-30 open meetings annually.

Additionally, the seminar is supported by Tromsø's humanitarian organisations, solidarity organisations, and student organisations.
