Lectures on computational microbiology and AI/ML methods for inclusive health care

UiT's Center for Sustainable STEM Education will present a set of two lectures by Dr. Eric Patridge of Viome Life Sciences on computational microbiology and AI/ML methods for inclusive healthcare.

The two lectures are:

1. Leveraging microbial meta-transcriptomic activity in data-driven risk scores and precision recommendations for IBS and other chronic conditions;

2. An introduction to AI/ML healthcare solutions, including the ongoing need for bringing LGBTQ+ communities into the fold

The lectures are expected to be of broad interest, encompassing chemical biology, microbiology (microbiomes), AI/ML methods in health care, and diversity and inclusion perspectives.

Dr. Eric Patridge is a Computational Principal Scientist at Viome Life Sciences, New York City, where he focuses on health and wellness solutions driven by AI/ML, informing clinical recommendations with functional medicine, personalized data, and machine-learned microbiome models. The talk should be of broad interest to chemical biologists, microbiologists, and computational scientists as well as the general public interested in promoting diversity and inclusion.

The lectures are sponsored by UiT's Center for Sustainable STEM Education and the Research Council of Norway's BALANSE program.
