Multilingualism in Transitions (MultiTrans)

ERC Advanced Grant of €2.5 million for Sari Pietikäinen and RiverPulse!

RiverPulse is beating! The MultiTrans team is delighted to announce that our team member and friend Sari Pietikäinen has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant of €2.5 million for RiverPulse — an interdisciplinary project investigating how climate change, natural resources, language, culture and Indigenous knowledge are interconnected across three Arctic rivers.

Sari spent the last academic year as a member of MultiTrans while developing the RiverPulse project proposal at UiT. We admire the effort and dedication behind this extraordinary funding and achievement. What a major win for ethnographic, qualitative, women‑led and Indigenous research at UiT!

Our warmest congratulations to Sari, to MultiTrans leader Hilde Sollid, and to Marie Maegaard (University of Copenhagen), who will join RiverPulse as researchers. The MultiTrans team is so proud and look forward to following this important research on human-nature relations in the Arctic in the years to come.
