Special Conference Session at UiT under BRIDGE Project titled "Technologies for Sustainable Urbanization in the Arctic"

BEaM- Energy and Environmental Research Group, UiT Narvik from Institutt for bygg, energi og materialteknologi (https://lnkd.in/e85FJKHH), Fakultet for ingeniørvitenskap og teknologi actively contributed to the Midnight Sun Summit in Mathematics and Engineering (MSSME 2026) held from 15th-19th June at UiT- The Arctic University of Norway, Narvik.
Our group organized and participated in the special session "Technologies for Sustainable Urbanization in the Arctic," chaired by Prof. Rajnish Kaur Calay and Prof. Mohamad Y. Mustafa. As a member of the Scientific Committee for the session, Somil Thakur, Ph.D. contributed to the evaluation and selection of plenary talks and management. The session brought together researchers from academia and industry to discuss sustainable technologies and resilient solutions for Arctic communities.
It featured an inspiring keynote by Prof. Satoshi Okabe, Hokkaido University, Japan, along with interesting talks from Fasil Ejigu Eregno (Assoc. Prof., UiT- The Arctic University of Norway), Dr. Nga Phuong Dang (Senior Researcher, SINTEF), Dr. Sovik Das (Assistant Professor, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi).
We were also pleased to host presentations from PhD researchers, including Samad Ali Taj and Mohammad Uzair Azhar from UiT- The Arctic University of Norway.
Reshma P A and Safa Khader, visiting researchers from BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, shared their work as part of their research stay at UiT- The Arctic University of Norway under the BRIDGE Project (https://lnkd.in/dM3hDPwS). Together with many other national and international researchers, they contributed to engaging scientific discussions and knowledge exchange.
The conference provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, establish new collaborations, and showcase BEaM- Energy and Environmental Research Group, UiT Narvik's ongoing research in sustainable energy, environmental engineering, and Arctic urbanization.
