Norstip Scholarship Programme: how to apply

This page provides detailed instructions for students applying to UiT under the Norstip Scholarship Programme, which supports students from selected partner institutions in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Nomination and access to the Application Web (Søknadsweb): (1) Students must be nominated by their home university. (2) Access to the Application Web (Søknadsweb) is granted via an email invitation from UiT. If you are unsure, send email mobility@uit.no.

Please upload ONLY the following documents:
- Download and sign the Document Enclosure Form.
- Copy of International Passport in PDF.
- High School / Secondary School Diploma and Transcript of records in PDF.
- Bachelor's degree Graduation Diploma / Certificate in PDF (in its official language + official and duly notarized English translation).
- Bachelor's degree final Transcript of Records in PDF (in its official language + official and duly notarized English translation).
- Proof of English Language Proficiency in PDF: International admissions | UiT
- Statement of Purpose (Motivational Letter): explain why you are applying for the master's programme, your thesis research objectives, and career objectives.
- CV / Resumé
- Documentation of Name Change (If applicable - it should be official and duly notarized)

Important: Before you begin
You can only access the Application Web (Søknadsweb) with the email address used by your home university to nominate you to UiT. If you are unsure about email address your home educational institution has used to nominate you to UiT, please send email mobility@uit.no. We will tell you which email your university used to nominate you to UiT.
1- CHOOSE INSTITUTION: UiT THE ARCTIC UNIVERSITY OF NORWAY
- It is important to choose "UiT The Arctic University of Norway" as your institution because the Application Web (Søknadsweb) is also used by other universities / colleges in Norway.
Login link: please scroll down to the step #3 "LOG IN AS "INTERNATIONAL APPLICANT".
2- REQUEST A NEW PASSWORD
- Login method: Scroll all the way down to "Login International Applicant"
- Click on "Send me a new password" to order a password. Please check your inbox and spam folders.
- Use ONLY the email address that your university used to nominate you to UiT to order your password! Please send an email to mobility@uit.no IF you are not sure about your email address.
3 - LOG IN AS "INTERNATIONAL APPLICANT"
- Click on the field "Email address" to add the email address used by your university to nominate you to UiT. Please send an email to mobility@uit.no IF you are not sure about your email address.
- Click on the field "Password" to add the new password that you have received.
- Click on "Register new international applicant" to create an account.
- Here is the link to the Application Web (Søknadsweb): Choose an institution - Søknadsweb (fsweb.no)
4 -HOME ADDRESS
It must be street name, street number, postal code, city and name of home country. P.O.BOX is not accepted!
- Address format: choose “International format”
- Address Line 1: Street name and street number (House number).
- Address Line 2: optional.
- Postal Code and City: Postal code is known as zip code in some countries. Tip: You can find the correct postal code by googling your street name and city on Google Maps: Google Maps
- Country: your country of residence.
- Mobile number: required in case of emergencies.
5 - PERSONAL INFORMATION
- Email address: make sure your email address is spelled correctly.
- Citizenship: check whether your citizenship is correct. If you are unsure, please email mobility@uit.no.
- Language: Please choose English only. Please do not choose Norwegian even if you speak the language because important information is sent only to those who have chosen English for international students.
- Click "Next" to proceed to the application webpage
- Entrance requirements: please ignore this message!
6- APPLICATION ALTERNATIVE
Application deadline: please ignore this because it is not for you.
Documentation submission deadline: You can find the submission deadline in the "Application Alternatives.
Application alternatives: it refers to your subject area or the name of your host academic department / school at UiT.
Application Information (Comment Box): Course-based students: please register your courses here. Traineeship: please register here the type of your traineeship.
7- NEW APPLICATION TAB
Please do not click on the "NEW APPLICATION" tab, as it is not intended for Norstip students.
8- UPLOADING DOCUMENTS

- Click on "Upload new document" to start uploading your documents.
All confirmations are sent automatically to your email after uploading each document. You DO NOT need to contact us after you have received the confirmation receipt by email.
You can also view your receipt on the tab My applications in the top menu (the menu looks like 3 lines) on the Application Web. An application registration receipt will also be sent automatically to your e-mail address.
How to withdraw your application
If you only wish to withdraw from one application option, or change the order of preferences, you can do this by selecting "CHANGE APPLICATION."
NOTE! Withdrawal and changes are only possible before the application deadline.
Multiple applications
Norstip students are NOT allowed to make multiple applications besides their application for Norstip scholarship, which is by invitation only.
NEVER click on the tab "NEW APPLICATION"! This tab is not for Norstip students.
Once you have registered an application, you can log in to Søknadsweb at any time and select "My applications" from the top left menu (three lines in some browsers) to view your application status.
Who will assess your application?
- The Admission Office (admission@uit.no) will check whether you have uploaded all the required documents in the section # 7. If there is a missing document, we will inform you about that by email.
- If your application is complete, the Admission Office(admission@uit.no) will forward your application internally to the academic department/school to assess whether you meet the admission requirements for the Master's programe you have been nominated to.
- If you do not meet the admission requirements for any of the master's programme, the Admission Office will send you an email to ask you to choose other modules or to provide more documents that prove you meet the admission requirements.
When the assessment process starts?

What should you do during this phase?
Please wait until you have received an offer of admission (Letter of Acceptance) from the Admission Office. You do not need to contact us during this phase unless we have contacted if your application is missing something.
When will I receive my Acceptance Letter (offer of admission)?
Your application status will be "Under Review" until the final decision. You will receive a notification by email in June (for commencement in the autumn semester) and December (for commencement in the spring semester) to accept or decline your offer of admission.
The deadline for accepting or declining the offer of admission is specified in the "Notification of admission" email that was sent to you!
