Magritt Brustad


Job description

Magritt Brustad er professor i ernæringsepidemiologi og er involvert i flere forskningsprosjekter. Hun underviser i hovedsak på bachelor i ernæring og master i klinisk ernæring, og veileder bachelor-, master- og ph.d.-studenter. Hun er leder for den nystartede forskningsgruppen Beredskap og folkehelse (PREP) – Preparedness and Public Health Resilience – som er forankret ved Institutt for samfunnsmedisin (ISM). Hun er også leder for det tverrfaglige forskningsprosjektet Resilient North, finansiert av Norges forskningsråd.

    Research interests

    Det meste av hennes forskning er innefor epidemiologi og basert på store befolkningsbaserte studier som Norske kvinner og helse-studien (NOWAC) og Tromsø-studien. Hun har også omfattende erfaring med å jobbe med data fra SAMINOR-studien, Tannhelse i Nord-studien og European Investigation into Nutrition and Cancer (EPIC). Vitamin D og helse har i mer enn to tiår vært hennes spesialområde, og hun har blitt anerkjent og brukt som en ekspert på feltet både nasjonalt og internasjonalt i ulike sammenhenger.

    En av Magritts nåværende hovedinteresser er beredskap og matsikkerhet i et folkehelseperspektiv, spesielt knyttet til situasjonen i nordområdene. Hun leder et omfattende, tverrfaglig forskningsrådsfinansiert prosjekt om matvareberedskap og folkehelse i Nord-Norge kalt Resilient North.

    Hun har også en klinisk kontrollert studie på vitamin D og periodontitt og samarbeider om prosjekter innen oral helse med Tannhelsekompetansesenteret for Nord-Norge, hvor hun har en bistilling.

    Teaching

    Magritt Brustad er professor i ernæringsepidemiologi og fag­enhets­leder for ernæring ved Institutt for samfunnsmedisin, Det helsevitenskapelige fakultet, UiT. Fra 2021 til 1. august 2025 var hun studieleder for bachelor i ernæring og master i klinisk ernæring, med ansvar for daglig drift, strategisk utvikling og representasjon av programmene i relevante lokale (UiT) og nasjonale fora. Hun veileder fortsatt ph.d.- og masterstudenter. I studieåret 2025/2026 har hun FoU-termin og har derfor ingen undervisningsoppgaver i denne perioden.
